For The First Time

For years, I've come home from teaching with new insights that I'm dying to share with someone who loves piano teaching like I do.  Sometimes I just need new ideas to help a struggling student.  Other times, I need someone who understands the trials that come with being a piano teacher.  Anyways, these ideas and insights I'm looking to discuss usually end up being bounced off my husband.  Now he's a wonderful man but there is no "piano teacher" bone in his body.  So when he hears of an annoying parent or student, his immediate response is "Fire them."  Doesn't quite work that way for a teacher... He is a business man though, so he encourages my dreams of someday expanding into a full music studio.  However that dream is quite a few years away.
So this blog is where I hope to share my love for piano teaching.  The moments that make it all worthwhile when a struggling student overcomes and succeeds!  When the students have their "Aha" experience that leaves you so proud of what you have helped them learn.  Luckily I know several excellent teachers from music teachers associations who love to chat about this stuff as well.  They are great friends to offer advice and share their own experiences.  Many of them have been teaching for many more years than I have and they really know what they are doing!
I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts and sometimes crazy dreams!  Please share all of your ideas back with me.  If I can meet more wonderful teachers through this blog thing, then maybe it will be worth it!
